Privacy Policy

The Family App ("the App") is a family coordination app for Android and iOS that gives one household a shared space for shopping lists, meal plans, calendar, birthdays, wishlists, chat, and optional location sharing. This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and what your rights are.

Data we collect

• Account information — name, email address, and optionally a phone number, birthday, and profile photo. Used to create your account and show who you are to your family members.
• Family content — shopping lists, meal plans, calendar events, birthdays, wishlists, and chat messages (including photos and voice messages you choose to send). This content is visible only to members of your family group.
• Location — only if you enable location sharing. Your approximate position is shared with your family members and can be turned off at any time in the App. Location is never shared outside your family.
• Device push tokens — used to deliver notifications (for example birthday reminders) to your device.

The App contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We never sell your data.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the App's features: syncing shared content between the members of your family group, sending you notifications you have enabled, and showing family members' locations when sharing is turned on.

Where your data is stored and who processes it

• Supabase — our backend provider (database, authentication, and file storage), hosted in the EU (eu-west-1). Row-level security ensures each family can only access its own data.
• Google Maps — used to render the map for location sharing on Android.
• Resend — used to send account emails such as email confirmation and password reset.

These providers process data on our behalf and only as needed to run the App. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS).

Data retention and deletion

You can delete individual content (messages, lists, events, and so on) at any time in the App, and it is removed from our servers. If you want your entire account and all associated data deleted, contact us at the address below and we will remove everything within 30 days.

Children

The App is designed for families and is intended to be used by children only as part of a family group managed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children outside of a family group, and the App shows no ads.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet).

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
